  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; allowing a pupil to participate 
  1.3             in an extracurricular activity in a school the pupil 
  1.4             does not attend in certain circumstances; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 123.38, by adding a 
  1.6             subdivision. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 123.38, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 2c.  [EXTRACURRICULAR OPTION.] A pupil may 
  1.11  participate in an extracurricular activity of a public school 
  1.12  other than the public school the pupil attends if the public 
  1.13  school the pupil attends does not offer the extracurricular 
  1.14  activity.  The pupil may choose an activity at a public school 
  1.15  in any school district.  The pupil must meet the qualifying 
  1.16  requirements, if any, to participate in the activity.  The pupil 
  1.17  is responsible for transportation between the school attended 
  1.18  and the school offering the activity.  Revenue to the school 
  1.19  district of either school is not affected by the pupil's action.
