  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; modifying the grant 
  1.3             limit for acquisitions of natural and scenic areas; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1995 Supplement, section 
  1.5             85.019, subdivision 4a. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1995 Supplement, section 
  1.8   85.019, subdivision 4a, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 4a.  [NATURAL AND SCENIC AREAS.] The commissioner 
  1.10  shall administer a program to provide grants to units of 
  1.11  government and school districts for the acquisition and 
  1.12  betterment of natural and scenic areas such as blufflands, 
  1.13  prairies, shorelands, wetlands, and wooded areas.  A grant may 
  1.14  not exceed 50 percent or $50,000 $200,000, whichever is less, of 
  1.15  the costs of acquisition and betterment of land acquired under 
  1.16  this subdivision.
