  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime prevention and public safety; 
  1.3             appropriating money for bracelets with tracking 
  1.4             devices to monitor sex offenders.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $500,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   commissioner of corrections for the fiscal year ending June 30, 
  1.9   2005, for the acquisition of bracelets equipped with tracking 
  1.10  devices designed to track and monitor the movement and location 
  1.11  of criminal offenders.  The commissioner shall use the bracelets 
  1.12  to monitor high-risk sex offenders who are on supervised release 
  1.13  or probation to help ensure that the offenders do not violate 
  1.14  conditions of their release or probation.
