  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to drivers' licenses; providing that speeding 
  1.3             violation less than 18 percent greater than the lawful 
  1.4             speed not be recorded on the violator's driving 
  1.5             record; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.6             171.12, subdivision 6. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 171.12, 
  1.9   subdivision 6, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 6.  [CERTAIN CONVICTIONS NOT RECORDED.] The 
  1.11  department shall not keep on the record of a driver any 
  1.12  conviction for a violation of section 169.14, subdivision 2, 
  1.13  paragraph (a), clause (3), unless the violation consisted of a 
  1.14  speed greater than ten miles per hour in excess of the lawful 
  1.15  speed by 18 percent or more.
