A bill for an act
relating to state lands; providing for disposition of proceeds from tax-forfeited
land sales in Hubbard County.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin LAND REPLACEMENT TRUST FUND; HUBBARD COUNTY.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, and any other law relating to the
apportionment of proceeds from the sale of tax-forfeited land, Hubbard County must deposit
the first $1,000,000 of proceeds from the sale of tax-forfeited lands before August 1, 2031,
into a tax-forfeited land replacement trust fund established by Hubbard County under this
section. The principal and interest from this fund may be spent only on the purchase of lands
offered for sale by The Conservation Fund or other lands considered better suited for retention
by Hubbard County. Lands purchased with the land replacement trust fund must:

new text begin (1) become subject to a trust in favor of the governmental subdivision wherein they lie
and all laws related to tax-forfeited lands; and

new text begin (2) be for forest management and recreation purposes and dedicated as memorial forests
under Minnesota Statutes, section 459.06, subdivision 2.

Hubbard County and its chief clerical officer comply with Minnesota Statutes, section
645.021, subdivisions 2 and 3.
