A bill for an act
relating to health; appropriating money for advance care planning on end-of-life
care choices.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION FOR ADVANCE CARE PLANNING.

new text begin $800,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $800,000 in fiscal year 2021 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of health to award a grant to a statewide advance care
planning resource organization that has expertise in convening and coordinating
community-based strategies to encourage individuals, families, caregivers, and health care
providers to begin conversations regarding end-of-life care choices that express an
individual's health care values and preferences and are based on informed health care
decisions. $500,000 is added to the base appropriation beginning in fiscal year 2022 and
continuing in each fiscal year thereafter for grants for advance care planning.
