1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to labor relations; providing that the term 1.3 of a master contract between a school board and an 1.4 exclusive representative of teachers may be for up to 1.5 five years; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 1.6 179A.20, subdivision 3. 1.7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.8 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 179A.20, 1.9 subdivision 3, is amended to read: 1.10 Subd. 3. [DURATION.] The duration of the contract is 1.11 negotiable but shall not exceed three years. Any contract 1.12 between a school board and an exclusive representative of 1.13 teachers shall be for a term oftwoup to five years, beginning 1.14 on July 1 ofeach odd-numberedthe first year of the contract. 1.15 A contract between a school board and an exclusive 1.16 representative of teachers shall contain the teachers' 1.17 compensation including fringe benefits for the entire 1.18two-yearcontract term and shall not contain a wage reopening 1.19 clause or any other provision for the renegotiation of the 1.20 teachers' compensation. 1.21 Sec. 2. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 1.22 Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
