A bill for an act
relating to veterans; appropriating money for a grant to Fishing with Vets; requiring
reports.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $25,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $25,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of veterans affairs for a grant to Fishing with Vets, a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to organize and conduct guided fishing trips for veterans
across Minnesota. By January 15 each year, the commissioner of veterans affairs must report
to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees with jurisdiction
over veterans regarding the uses of grant money, including any amount used for grant
administration. The report must be filed with the Legislative Reference Library in compliance
with Minnesota Statutes, section 3.195. As a condition of receiving the grant, Fishing with
Vets must agree to provide the commissioner of veterans affairs any information needed to
complete the report.
