  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; adding a river as a 
  1.3             canoe and boating route; appropriating money; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 85.32, subdivision 1. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 85.32, 
  1.7   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [AREAS MARKED.] The commissioner of natural 
  1.9   resources is authorized in cooperation with local units of 
  1.10  government and private individuals and groups when feasible to 
  1.11  mark canoe and boating routes on the Little Fork, Big Fork, 
  1.12  Minnesota, St. Croix, Snake, Mississippi, Red Lake, Cannon, 
  1.13  Straight, Des Moines, Crow Wing, St. Louis, Pine, Rum, Kettle, 
  1.14  Cloquet, Root, Zumbro, Pomme de Terre within Swift county, 
  1.15  Watonwan, Cottonwood, Whitewater, Chippewa from Benson in Swift 
  1.16  county to Montevideo in Chippewa county, Red River of the North, 
  1.17  and Crow rivers which have historic and scenic values and to 
  1.18  mark appropriately points of interest, portages, camp sites, and 
  1.19  all dams, rapids, waterfalls, whirlpools, and other serious 
  1.20  hazards which are dangerous to canoe and watercraft travelers. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.22     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.23  commissioner of natural resources for purposes of section 1.
