  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to taxation; prohibiting imposition of 
  1.3             additional qualifications on granting of homestead 
  1.4             classification; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, 
  1.5             section 273.124, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 273.124, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 20.  [ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS PROHIBITED.] No 
  1.10  political subdivision may impose any requirements not contained 
  1.11  in this chapter or chapter 272 to disqualify property from being 
  1.12  classified as a homestead if the property otherwise meets the 
  1.13  requirements for homestead treatment under this chapter and 
  1.14  chapter 272. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.16     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
