A bill for an act
relating to crime victims and battered women's
shelters; appropriating money to the commissioner of
public safety for crime victim service programs and
battered women's shelters.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $1,200,000 in
fiscal year 2006 and $1,200,000 in fiscal year 2007 are
appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of public
safety to be used for the funding of crime victim services for
abused children, sexual assault, battered women, and general
crime victims within the Office of Justice Programs. This
appropriation shall become part of the base level funding for
the 2008-2009 fiscal biennium.

new text begin Subd. 2.new text end [BATTERED WOMEN'S SHELTERS.] new text begin $2,600,000 in fiscal
year 2006 and $2,600,000 in fiscal year 2007 are appropriated
from the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for
grant funding for battered women's shelters under Minnesota
Statutes, section 611A.32, and for safe homes. This
appropriation shall become part of the base level funding for
the 2008-2009 fiscal biennium.
