  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to state government; appropriating money for 
  1.3             the statewide public ice facilities program. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $5,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal 
  1.7   year 1998 to the Minnesota amateur sports commission for grants 
  1.8   for ice centers, under Minnesota Statutes, section 240A.09.  The 
  1.9   maximum grant for a new facility is $250,000.  The maximum grant 
  1.10  for rehabilitation and renovation of an existing facility is 
  1.11  $100,000.  Any portion of this appropriation that is not spent 
  1.12  in fiscal year 1998 carries forward and may be spent in fiscal 
  1.13  year 1999.
