A bill for an act
relating to state government; appropriating money for grants to radio stations.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $492,000 in fiscal year 2022 and $492,000 in fiscal year 2023 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of administration for community service grants to public
educational radio stations. No indirect costs may be claimed by an institution or governing
body for this grant. Grants must be allocated after considering the recommendations of the
Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations according to Minnesota Statutes,
section 129D.14.

Sec. 2. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL RADIO STATIONS.

new text begin $142,000 in fiscal year 2022 and $142,000 in fiscal year 2023 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of administration for grants to public educational radio
stations for the purchase of equipment. This appropriation may be used for the repair, rental,
and purchase of equipment and software, including equipment and software under $500.
No indirect costs may be claimed by an institution or governing body for this grant. Grants
must be allocated after considering the recommendations of the Association of Minnesota
Public Educational Radio Stations according to Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.14.

Sec. 3. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL RADIO STATIONS.

new text begin $1,950,000 in fiscal year 2022 and $1,950,000 in fiscal year 2023 are appropriated from
the arts and cultural heritage fund to the commissioner of administration for grants to the
Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition
grants according to Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19. Of this amount, $75,000 the first
year is for statewide programming to produce and distribute the Veterans' Voices program
to educate and engage communities regarding Minnesota veterans' contributions, knowledge,
skills, and experiences with an emphasis on the untold stories of veterans from diverse
communities. The funds shall be available until June 30, 2023. This is a onetime
appropriation.
