  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to government operations; providing for 
  1.3             continued employment of certain distinguished service 
  1.4             professors in the Minnesota state colleges and 
  1.5             universities system. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [DISTINGUISHED SERVICE PROFESSOR.] 
  1.8      Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, an appointment 
  1.9   made by the state university board to the position of 
  1.10  distinguished service professor in effect on June 30, 1995, and 
  1.11  the terms and conditions of the appointment, remain in effect 
  1.12  until terminated by the distinguished service professor 
  1.13  appointee or the appointee is terminated for cause.  For the 
  1.14  purposes of this section, distinguished service professor has 
  1.15  the same meaning as distinguished senior fellow. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective the day following enactment.
