  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; changing the enrollment period 
  1.3             that is counted toward the maximum for state grant 
  1.4             eligibility; amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 
  1.5             136A.121, subdivision 9. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 136A.121, 
  1.8   subdivision 9, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 9.  [AWARDS.] An undergraduate student who meets the 
  1.10  board's requirements is eligible to apply for and receive a 
  1.11  grant in any year of undergraduate study unless the student has 
  1.12  obtained a baccalaureate degree or previously has been enrolled 
  1.13  full time or the equivalent for eight semesters or 12 quarters.  
  1.14  In determining the length of enrollment, the board shall only 
  1.15  count enrollment since the inception of the state scholarship 
  1.16  and grant programs.
