  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education funding; authorizing a grant for 
  1.3             the metro homework hotline; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [METRO HOMEWORK HOTLINE.] 
  1.6      (a) $30,000 in fiscal year 2000 and $30,000 in fiscal year 
  1.7   2001 are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 
  1.8   of children, families, and learning for a grant for the metro 
  1.9   homework hotline. 
  1.10     (b) This appropriation is available to assist students with 
  1.11  homework by telephone or other interactive technology.  The 
  1.12  program providers must offer assistance to students five days 
  1.13  per week.  The state aid is contingent upon the program matching 
  1.14  each $1 of state revenue with $2 of local or private funding or 
  1.15  in-kind contributions.
