  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; funding research on 
  1.3             amphibians; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $400,000 in fiscal year 2000 and $400,000 in fiscal year 
  1.7   2001 are appropriated to the commissioner of the pollution 
  1.8   control agency for acceleration of research being conducted on 
  1.9   deformities found in amphibians and their possible causes.  The 
  1.10  funding must be shared with the departments of agriculture, 
  1.11  natural resources, and health and with the appropriate 
  1.12  University of Minnesota departments.  The money must be used for 
  1.13  research and monitoring of amphibian deformities, including, but 
  1.14  not limited to, a possible groundwater-surface water 
  1.15  interconnection.  The money may be used as a match for any 
  1.16  federal money available.  The commissioner must report to the 
  1.17  natural resources finance committees of the legislature by 
  1.18  February 1, 2001, on the appropriation and results accomplished.
