  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to economic development; promoting foreign 
  1.3             trade zones; appropriating money.  
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [PURPOSE.] 
  1.6      Foreign trade zones are a beneficial tool in promoting the 
  1.7   economy, assisting Minnesota business, and creating jobs in the 
  1.8   state of Minnesota.  
  1.9      Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.10     $125,000 in fiscal year 1998 and $125,000 in fiscal year 
  1.11  1999 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 
  1.12  of trade and economic development for a grant to the greater 
  1.13  metropolitan foreign trade zone commission for the purpose of 
  1.14  promoting foreign trade zones in Minnesota.
