A bill for an act
relating to education; requiring the Board of School Administrators to study the
development of a Minnesota comprehensive system for principal development;
requiring a report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The Board of School Administrators, in cooperation
with Minnesota education administrative licensing institutions, professional education
administration organizations, and the Department of Education, must conduct a
comprehensive study of existing Minnesota administrative preparation programs and
develop a comprehensive proposal for principal development that reflects national
research and best practices models. Program review includes, but is not limited to:

new text begin (3) licensing and certification; and

new text begin The Board of School Administrators must submit a report of their
findings under the study to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative
committees having jurisdiction over early childhood through grade 12 education policy
no later than January 15, 2014.
