  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; appropriating money to 
  1.3             the commissioner of natural resources for a Southeast 
  1.4             Asian conservation officer recruitment and training 
  1.5             program. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.8      $197,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 1998 and $230,000 
  1.9   is appropriated in fiscal year 1999 from the general fund to the 
  1.10  commissioner of natural resources to recruit and train members 
  1.11  of the Southeast Asian community for new conservation officer 
  1.12  positions that will begin after July 1, 1999.  This 
  1.13  appropriation is for recruiting, screening, and training the 
  1.14  candidates, and for providing a monthly stipend for the 
  1.15  candidates, educational costs, a program coordinator position, 
  1.16  and outreach locations within the Southeast Asian community.
