  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to windbreaks; appropriating money for 
  1.3             cost-share grants for windbreaks. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [WINDBREAKS.] 
  1.6      $2,000,000 is appropriated for fiscal year 1998 and 
  1.7   $2,000,000 for fiscal year 1999 from the general fund to the 
  1.8   board of water and soil resources for grants to soil and water 
  1.9   conservation districts for cost-sharing contracts with 
  1.10  landowners to renovate, establish, and maintain tree windbreaks 
  1.11  adjacent to communities, farm fields, and rural residences for 
  1.12  multiple purposes, including controlling snow deposition, energy 
  1.13  conservation, erosion control, and enhancing wildlife habitat.  
  1.14  This appropriation is available until expended.
