  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; modifying provisions for 
  1.3             selection of spring turkey licenses; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 97A.435, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 97A.435, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [ZONE 3 SPRING SEASON.] The commissioner shall 
  1.10  issue firearms-only hunting licenses for the spring turkey 
  1.11  season in Zone 3.  An additional number of licenses shall be 
  1.12  issued for archery-only hunting, equal to ten percent of the 
  1.13  total number of firearms licenses issued for Zone 3.  If a 
  1.14  second preference drawing is held for undersubscribed time 
  1.15  periods in a Zone 3 permit area, an unsuccessful applicant for 
  1.16  the permit area is eligible for the second drawing in the same 
  1.17  weapon category that the applicant originally selected.
