A bill for an act
relating to state-funded institutions; prohibiting
fees for certain elementary school classes; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2004, sections 138.035; 138.69;
138.94, subdivision 2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 138.035, is
amended to read:


138.035 deleted text begin STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AUTHORIZED TO SUPPORT THE
deleted text end SCIENCE MUSEUM OF MINNESOTA.

The State Historical Society is authorized to enter into an
agreement or agreements with the Science Museum of Minnesota
whereby the State Historical Society shall make payments to such
museum to support and expand its programs and to develop an
extension program to bring the facilities of such museum to
schools throughout the state. Such agreement or agreements
shall provide for the time, amount and method of such payments.

fifth grade classes.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 138.69, is
amended to read:


138.69 PUBLIC AREAS OF THE CAPITOL.

The Minnesota State Historical Society is designated the
research agency and is responsible for the interpretation of the
public areas for visitors to the Capitol. This involves
conducting or approving public programs and tours in the Capitol
and State Office Building, including exhibits held in the
Capitol, providing informational services, acting as advisor on
preservation, recommending appropriate custodial policies, and
maintaining and repairing all works of art. new text begin No fee may be
charged for fourth and sixth grade classes to tour or attend
programs in the Capitol.

Sec. 3.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 138.94,
subdivision 2, is amended to read:


Subd. 2.

User fees.

The society may charge fees it deems
reasonable for uses relating to the State History Center
