1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to traffic regulations; authorizing town road 1.3 authority to set speed limit under 40 miles per hour 1.4 for unpaved, rural town road; amending Minnesota 1.5 Statutes 2002, section 169.14, by adding a subdivision. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 169.14, is 1.8 amended by adding a subdivision to read: 1.9 Subd. 5f. [SETTING SPEED LIMIT ON RURAL, UNPAVED TOWN 1.10 ROAD.] (a) A town board acting as the road authority, as defined 1.11 in section 160.02, for its town roads may reduce the speed limit 1.12 below 40 miles per hour on any unpaved, rural town road under 1.13 its jurisdiction, effective upon erection of the appropriate 1.14 signs that designate the speed and comply with the manual on 1.15 uniform traffic control devices. Any speed in excess of the 1.16 posted speed limit on the town road is unlawful. 1.17 (b) This subdivision supersedes any other provision to the 1.18 contrary except any inconsistent provision relating to setting 1.19 minimum allowable speed limits under subdivisions 5a through 5e.
