A bill for an act
relating to energy; prohibiting discrimination by delivered fuel vendors against
customers receiving fuel assistance; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 216B.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

A vendor of liquid propane gas, number
one fuel oil, or number two fuel oil sold to a residential customer to heat a residence may
not refuse service nor discriminate against a customer by charging a different price or by
requiring payment to be made at a different time or in cash, solely because the customer
receives or has applied to receive financial assistance to help pay energy bills from a
federal, state, or local unit of government.

This section may be enforced by the attorney general under
section 8.31, and by private action under section 8.31, subdivision 3a.
