A bill for an act
relating to health; requiring the commissioner of health to develop health
risk limits for perfluorooctanoic acid, perfluorooctane sulfonate, and
perfluorobutanoic acid.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin HEALTH RISK LIMITS REQUIRED.

new text begin By August 1, 2007, the commissioner of health shall develop and adopt by rule,
pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 14.388, clause (1), health risk limits, as defined
in Minnesota Statutes, section 103H.005, subdivision 3, for perfluorooctanoic acid,
perfluorooctane sulfonate, and perfluorobutanoic acid. The commissioner shall develop
and adopt the health risk limits according to Minnesota Statutes, section 144.0751,
and ensure that the health risk limits are based on currently available toxicity and
exposure data. Until the health risk limits are adopted by rule for perfluorooctanoic acid,
perfluorooctane sulfonate, and perfluorobutanoic acid, the interim health risk limit for each
of the chemicals is 0.5 parts per billion.
