  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for a grant to 
  1.3             independent school district No. 4, McGregor; 
  1.4             permitting McGregor school district to levy for energy 
  1.5             improvements; appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [MCGREGOR GRANT.] 
  1.8      $32,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2000 from the 
  1.9   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.10  learning for a grant to independent school district No. 4, 
  1.11  McGregor. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [MCGREGOR LEVY.] 
  1.13     Beginning with taxes payable in 2000, independent school 
  1.14  district No. 4, McGregor, may levy $32,000 each year for eight 
  1.15  years for the amount of energy improvements that the district 
  1.16  made with the intention of complying with Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.17  section 216C.37. 
  1.18     Sec. 3.  [MCGREGOR LEVY ADJUSTMENT.] 
  1.19     Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 126C.40, 
  1.20  subdivision 5; or 216C.37; or any other law to the contrary, the 
  1.21  department of children, families, and learning shall not reduce 
  1.22  the payable 2000 levy for independent school district No. 4, 
  1.23  McGregor, by $31,979.17 for an energy loan levy.
