A bill for an act
relating to public safety; prohibiting use of term
"state patrol" in advertising for private detective or
protective agent services; amending Minnesota Statutes
2004, section 326.3384, subdivision 1.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 326.3384,
subdivision 1, is amended to read:


Subdivision 1.

Prohibition.

No license holder or
employee of a license holder shall, in a manner that implies
that the person is an employee or agent of a governmental
agency, display on a badge, identification card, emblem,
vehicle, uniform, stationery, or in advertising for private
detective or protective agent services:

(1) the words "police," "constable," "highway patrol,"

(2) the name of a municipality, county, state, or of the
United States, or any governmental subdivision thereof.
