  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to motor vehicles; repealing restrictions on 
  1.3             handlebar height for motorcycles and motorized 
  1.4             bicycles; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.5             169.974, subdivision 3.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 169.974, 
  1.8   subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3.  [VEHICLE EQUIPMENT.] (a) No person shall operate 
  1.10  any motorcycle equipped with handlebars if any part of such 
  1.11  handlebars extend above the shoulders of the operator while 
  1.12  seated with both feet on the ground. 
  1.13     (b) Any motorcycle with a seat designed or suited for use 
  1.14  by a passenger shall be equipped with foot rests for the 
  1.15  passenger.  No person shall operate any motorcycle on the 
  1.16  streets and highways after January 1, 1971, unless such 
  1.17  motorcycle is equipped with at least one rear view mirror so 
  1.18  attached and adjusted as to reflect to the operator a view of 
  1.19  the roadway for a distance of at least 200 feet to the rear of 
  1.20  the motorcycle and is equipped with not less than one horn which 
  1.21  shall be audible at a distance of at least 200 feet under normal 
  1.22  conditions. 
  1.23     (c) (b) All other applicable provisions of this chapter 
  1.24  pertaining to motorcycle and other motor vehicle equipment shall 
  1.25  apply to motorcycles, except those which by their nature have no 
  2.1   application.
