1.2relating to higher education; transferring the American Indian scholarship;
1.3requiring an office to distribute the scholarships; appropriating money.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. AMERICAN INDIAN SCHOLARSHIP.
1.6 Administration of the American Indian scholarship program under Minnesota
1.7Statutes, section 124D.84, is transferred from the Department of Education to the
1.8Minnesota Office of Higher Education. The Minnesota Office of Higher Education
1.9must maintain an office with at least one staff person at Bemidji State University for the
1.10distribution of scholarships under this section. Office space and support may be provided
1.11by Bemidji State University at no cost to the scholarship program.
1.12 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATIONS; AMERICAN INDIAN SCHOLARSHIPS.
1.13$1,875,000 each year for the biennium ending June 30, 2009, is appropriated from
1.14the general fund to the Minnesota Office of Higher Education for American Indian
1.15scholarships under Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.84.
1.16 Sec. 3. REVISOR'S INSTRUCTION.
1.17The revisor of statutes shall renumber Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.84 to
1.18section 136A.126, correct cross-references, and make other necessary corrections to
1.19implement section 1.
