relating to agriculture; requiring a regional food systems report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin REGIONAL FOOD SYSTEMS REPORT.

new text begin No later than January 15, 2022, the commissioner of agriculture must report to the chairs
and ranking minority members of the legislative committees and divisions with jurisdiction
over agriculture finance and policy and economic development on local and regional food
systems and their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The report must capture the
pandemic's impact on local and regional food system and best practices, highlight specific
case studies, recommend statewide goals, and otherwise advise the legislature on ways to
promote resiliency in local and regional food systems.
