  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education finance; increasing the 
  1.3             appropriation for the alternative compensation 
  1.4             program; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [ALTERNATIVE COMPENSATION; INCREASED 
  1.7   APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.8      $5,200,000 in fiscal year 2004 and $5,200,000 in fiscal 
  1.9   year 2005 are appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.10  commissioner of children, families, and learning for alternative 
  1.11  teacher compensation awards under Minnesota Statutes, sections 
  1.12  122A.413 to 122A.415. 
  1.13     If the appropriations under this section are insufficient 
  1.14  to fund all program participants, the commissioner shall 
  1.15  prioritize participants by the date of receipt of the 
  1.16  application.  A participant may receive less than the maximum 
  1.17  aid per pupil available under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.18  122A.415.
