  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public safety; appropriating money for 
  1.3             research to study medical use of marijuana. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION FOR STUDY OF MEDICAL USE OF 
  1.6   MARIJUANA.] 
  1.7      $100,000 is appropriated to the commissioner of public 
  1.8   safety from the general fund for a research grant to study and 
  1.9   report on the medical use of marijuana.  The research study 
  1.10  project must target a patient population suffering with serious 
  1.11  illness or a chronic condition.  This is a one-time 
  1.12  appropriation for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2002.
