  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; requiring health plan company 
  1.3             acceptance of sole community pharmacies; proposing 
  1.4             coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 62Q. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [62Q.68] [SOLE COMMUNITY PHARMACIES.] 
  1.7      (a) For purposes of this section, "sole community pharmacy" 
  1.8   means a pharmacy located in Minnesota that is registered under 
  1.9   chapter 151 and is the only pharmacy operating in a city or town.
  1.10     (b) A health plan company shall accept as a provider in its 
  1.11  provider network a sole community pharmacy that: 
  1.12     (1) meets the health plan company's standards for pharmacy 
  1.13  services; 
  1.14     (2) agrees to the terms of the health plan company's 
  1.15  provider contract for pharmacies; and 
  1.16     (3) agrees to comply with all managed care protocols of the 
  1.17  health plan company that are applicable to pharmacy services. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective January 1, 2000, and applies to 
  1.20  health plans issued to or renewed to provide coverage for a 
  1.21  Minnesota resident on or after that date.
