1.2relating to energy; authorizing a grant to the White Earth Band of Chippewa to
1.3study the feasibility of a renewable energy facility.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. WHITE EARTH BAND OF CHIPPEWA RENEWABLE ENERGY
1.6GRANT.
1.7From the appropriation in fiscal year 2008 for the ethanol development program
1.8under Minnesota Statutes, section 41A.09, the commissioner of agriculture shall make
1.9a grant of $300,000 to the White Earth Band of Chippewa for a feasibility study of a
1.10renewable energy biofuels production, research and production facility on the White
1.11Earth Reservation in Mahnomen County.
1.12The grant must be used by the White Earth Band and the University of Minnesota to
1.13conduct a detailed feasibility study of the economic and technical viability of developing a
1.14multistream renewable energy biofuels demonstration facility on White Earth Reservation
1.15land to utilize existing forest resources, woody biomass, and cellulosic material to produce
1.16biofuels or bioenergy.
