BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin The Dakota and Ojibwe languages are recognized as indigenous heritage languages in
Minnesota. The indigenous heritage languages of Native Americans are an integral part of
the culture and identity of the people of this state. It is in the interest of the state of Minnesota
and the Tribal Nations in the state to promote and preserve these languages.
