  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; extending the existence 
  1.3             of the governor's residence council; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 16B.27, subdivision 3.
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 16B.27, 
  1.7   subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 3.  [COUNCIL.] The governor's residence council 
  1.9   consists of the following 19 members:  the commissioner; the 
  1.10  spouse or a designee of the governor; the executive director of 
  1.11  the Minnesota state arts board; the director of the Minnesota 
  1.12  historical society; a member of the senate appointed pursuant to 
  1.13  the rules of the senate; a member of the house of 
  1.14  representatives appointed pursuant to the rules of the house of 
  1.15  representatives; 13 persons appointed by the governor including 
  1.16  one in the field of higher education, one member of the American 
  1.17  Society of Interior Designers, Minnesota Chapter, one member of 
  1.18  the American Institute of Architects, Minnesota chapter, one 
  1.19  member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, 
  1.20  Minnesota Chapter, one member of the family that donated the 
  1.21  governor's residence to the state, if available, and eight 
  1.22  public members with four public members' terms being coterminous 
  1.23  with the governor who appoints them.  Members of the council 
  1.24  serve without compensation.  Membership terms, removal, and 
  1.25  filling of vacancies for members appointed by the governor are 
  2.1   governed by section 15.0575.  The council shall elect a chair 
  2.2   and a secretary from among its members.  The council expires on 
  2.3   June 30, 2003 2007. 
  2.4      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.5      Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
