  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; providing medical assistance 
  1.3             coverage of lead center services; requiring the 
  1.4             commissioner of human services to seek federal waivers 
  1.5             to allow medical assistance coverage of window 
  1.6             replacement; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 
  1.7             256B.0625, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 256B.0625, is 
  1.10  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 41.  [LEAD CENTER SERVICES.] Medical assistance 
  1.12  covers lead center services.  "Lead center services" means:  
  1.13  intensive case management, including assistance with relocation 
  1.14  or finding temporary housing; family education on establishing 
  1.15  and maintaining a lead-safe environment; coordination and 
  1.16  scheduling of housing inspections; referrals to and coordination 
  1.17  with other health and social service programs; and replacement 
  1.18  of windows based on a housing inspection's documentation of 
  1.19  need, to the extent allowed under the terms of the state's 
  1.20  waiver request. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [WAIVER REQUEST FOR WINDOW REPLACEMENT.] 
  1.22     The commissioner of human services shall seek any federal 
  1.23  waivers necessary to provide medical assistance coverage for the 
  1.24  costs of window replacement, when a housing inspection 
  1.25  determines that replacement would effectively reduce future 
  1.26  exposure to lead for children diagnosed with lead poisoning, or 
  2.1   determined to be at risk of lead poisoning.
