A bill for an act
relating to administration; appropriating money for a structural risk assessment
of the Capitol site.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin CAPITOL STRUCTURAL RISK, PRESERVATION ASSESSMENT.

new text begin $300,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
administration for the biennium ending June 30, 2013, to do an exterior and interior
structural risk assessment of the preservation needs of the State Capitol historic site. The
analysis must include an examination of what would be needed to reopen the balcony
viewing area on the second floor overlooking the Capitol grounds. By December 15,
2011, the commissioner must provide a prioritized list of restoration projects with rough
cost estimates to the governor, the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board, and
the chairs of the legislative committees with responsibility for those agencies and capital
investment.
