  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to housing; providing funding for the 
  1.3             community rehabilitation fund and for the affordable 
  1.4             rental investment fund programs; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [COMMUNITY REHABILITATION FUND PROGRAM.] 
  1.7      $8,000,000 in fiscal year 1998 and $8,000,000 in fiscal 
  1.8   year 1999 are appropriated from the general fund to the housing 
  1.9   development fund for the community rehabilitation fund program 
  1.10  under Minnesota Statutes, section 462A.206.  Of this 
  1.11  appropriation, $1,000,000 each year is to be used to match funds 
  1.12  provided by the greater Minnesota housing fund for housing in 
  1.13  regions of the state outside the metropolitan area as defined in 
  1.14  Minnesota Statutes, section 473.121, subdivision 2.  Of this 
  1.15  appropriation, $7,000,000 the first year and $7,000,000 the 
  1.16  second year is for housing in the metropolitan area. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [AFFORDABLE RENTAL INVESTMENT FUND PROGRAM.] 
  1.18     $7,000,000 in fiscal year 1998 and $7,000,000 in fiscal 
  1.19  year 1999 are appropriated from the general fund to the housing 
  1.20  development fund for the affordable rental investment fund 
  1.21  program under Minnesota Statutes, section 462A.21, subdivision 
  1.22  8b.  Of this appropriation, $4,000,000 each year is to be used 
  1.23  to match funds provided by the greater Minnesota housing fund 
  1.24  for housing in regions of the state outside the metropolitan 
  1.25  area as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 473.121, 
  2.1   subdivision 2.  Of this appropriation, $3,000,000 the first year 
  2.2   and $3,000,000 the second year are for housing in the 
  2.3   metropolitan area.
