A bill for an act
relating to health; requiring a study on the use of
sick leave.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin USE OF SICK LEAVE STUDY REQUIRED.

new text begin The commissioner of health shall prepare a study on the use
of employee sick leave to care for an employee's parent. The
study must examine whether such use is permitted and, if so, the
circumstances under which and extent to which an employee may
use sick leave to care for the employee's parent. The study
must examine the policies of federal, state, and local public
employers and may include the policies of private employers.
The commissioner shall submit the report to the legislature by
January 1, 2007.
