  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Anoka county; allowing awards of contracts 
  1.3             to resident bidders under certain circumstances. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [ANOKA COUNTY; CONTRACTS; LOCAL BIDDERS.] 
  1.6      For the purpose of encouraging and nourishing local 
  1.7   businesses and employment opportunities, Anoka county may award 
  1.8   a contract subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 471.345, to a 
  1.9   bidder who is a resident of Anoka county whose bid is no more 
  1.10  than five percent higher than the lowest bid if this resident 
  1.11  bidder agrees to a bid reduction to a level equal to the lowest 
  1.12  bid.  
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; LOCAL APPROVAL.] 
  1.14     Section 1 is effective the day after compliance with 
  1.15  Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3, by the Anoka 
  1.16  county board.
