  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; appropriating money for the St. 
  1.3             Cloud Hospital/Mayo family practice residency program. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $300,000 in fiscal year 1998 and $360,000 in fiscal year 
  1.7   1999 is appropriated from the general fund to the Mayo 
  1.8   Foundation for the St. Cloud Hospital/Mayo family practice 
  1.9   residency program.  The appropriation is contingent on at least 
  1.10  $950,000 from nonstate sources being made available as matching 
  1.11  money.  The appropriation is based on a capitation of $30,000 
  1.12  each year for each medical resident who is preparing to practice 
  1.13  primary care in a rural Minnesota community, up to a maximum of 
  1.14  12 residents.
