  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to highways; directing the designation of 
  1.3             marked trunk highway 23 from St. Cloud to I-90 as a 
  1.4             high-priority interregional corridor and directing its 
  1.5             reconstruction as a multilane divided highway. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION; HIGHWAY 23.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [DESIGNATION AS HIGH-PRIORITY INTERREGIONAL 
  1.9   CORRIDOR.] The commissioner of transportation shall designate 
  1.10  marked trunk highway 23 from St. Cloud to its intersection with 
  1.11  marked interstate highway 90 as a high-priority interregional 
  1.12  corridor. 
  1.13     Subd. 2.  [RECONSTRUCTION.] The commissioner shall take 
  1.14  such actions as the commissioner deems necessary to accomplish 
  1.15  the objective of reconstructing marked trunk highway 23 from St. 
  1.16  Cloud to its intersection with marked interstate highway 90 as a 
  1.17  multilane divided highway with all segments either constructed, 
  1.18  under construction, or included in the commissioner's statewide 
  1.19  transportation improvement program by January 1, 2013. 
  1.20     Subd. 3.  [REPORTS.] The commissioner shall report to the 
  1.21  legislature by February 1 of each year from 2003 through 2013 on 
  1.22  the commissioner's progress in complying with the requirements 
  1.23  of subdivisions 1 and 2.
