  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to environment; regulating ash disposal from 
  1.3             fire training exercises; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.4             2000, section 116.07, by adding a subdivision.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 116.07, is 
  1.7   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 12.  [FIRE TRAINING ASH DISPOSAL.] The ash from a 
  1.9   fire training exercise involving the live burning of a structure 
  1.10  must be classified as demolition debris and disposable on site, 
  1.11  or in any permitted demolition landfill at the discretion of the 
  1.12  landowner, if a person trained at a Minnesota state colleges and 
  1.13  universities fire safety center certifies, prior to the burn, 
  1.14  that the structure has been adequately prepared for the live 
  1.15  burning training exercise, taking into account all applicable 
  1.16  safety concerns and regulations, and pollution control agency 
  1.17  guidelines regarding the removal of hazardous materials.
