relating to education finance; appropriating money for a grant to Girl Scouts River
Valleys for the ConnectZ program; requiring a report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin (a) For a grant to Girl Scouts River Valleys for the
ConnectZ program to provide innovative, culturally relevant programming to
underrepresented, at-risk girls in kindergarten through grade 12, including programming
relating to healthy relationships; science, technology, engineering, and math; financial
literacy; college and career readiness; and leadership development and service learning:

new text begin (b) By February 15 following each fiscal year of the grant, the grantee must submit a
report detailing expenditures and outcomes of the grant-supported programs to the
commissioner of education and the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative
committees with primary jurisdiction over kindergarten through grade 12 education policy
and finance. The report under this paragraph must, at least, identify the proportion of high
school program participants who report that they are confident that they will attend college;
the proportion of grade 12 participants who apply to attend a postsecondary institution; the
proportion of participants who report having a positive relationship with their leader; and
the proportion of girls who report feeling empowered to make a difference in their
community.
