A bill for an act
relating to chemical dependency; appropriating money to the commissioner of
human services for grants for chemical dependency prevention programs.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY PREVENTION
PROGRAMS.

new text begin (a) $150,000 in fiscal year 2016 and $150,000 in fiscal year 2017 are appropriated
from the general fund to the commissioner of human services for grants to nonprofit
organizations to provide chemical dependency prevention programs in secondary schools.
An applicant for the grant funds must demonstrate expertise and prior experience in
providing prevention programming in secondary educational environments. An applicant
for the grant funds must provide verification to the commissioner that the applicant has
available and will contribute sufficient funds to match the grant given by the commissioner.
