  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to community development; providing funding 
  1.3             for the planning of a Hubert H. Humphrey museum at 
  1.4             Waverly, Minnesota; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [HUBERT H. HUMPHREY MUSEUM.] 
  1.7      Hubert H. Humphrey served the state of Minnesota and the 
  1.8   country as the mayor of Minneapolis, United States senator from 
  1.9   Minnesota, and vice-president of the United States.  He left a 
  1.10  legacy, both tangible and intangible to the state.  It is 
  1.11  fitting and important that the tangible legacy be displayed in a 
  1.12  museum named after him as a record of the past and an 
  1.13  inspiration for the future.  It is appropriate that the museum 
  1.14  be located in Waverly, Minnesota, where he maintained a 
  1.15  residence for many years. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.17     $....... in fiscal year 1998 is appropriated from the 
  1.18  general fund to the director of the Minnesota historical society 
  1.19  for a grant to the Hubert H. Humphrey museum.  The grant shall 
  1.20  be used for planning, design, and construction drawings for the 
  1.21  Hubert H. Humphrey museum to be located in Waverly, Minnesota.
