  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; supporting best practices 
  1.3             training in a community school model; appropriating 
  1.4             money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [BEST PRACTICES TRAINING.] 
  1.7      $3,000,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2002 to the 
  1.8   commissioner of children, families, and learning for a best 
  1.9   practices grant to independent school district No. 625, St. 
  1.10  Paul.  The district must use the proceeds of the grant within 
  1.11  the community school model to provide best practices training in 
  1.12  instruction and professional development to address diverse 
  1.13  school populations.  Training in best practices must be provided 
  1.14  in a community school where participants will gain experience in 
  1.15  extended learning opportunities, student and family support, 
  1.16  health and social services, and community involvement.  Training 
  1.17  opportunities are to be provided for teachers and support staff 
  1.18  both within and outside independent school district No. 625, St. 
  1.19  Paul.  This appropriation is available until June 30, 2003.
