  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to corrections; requiring regular meals to be 
  1.3             provided to inmates; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 243. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [243.557] [INMATE FOOD.] 
  1.7      Where inmates in a state correctional facility are not 
  1.8   routinely absent from the facility for work or other purposes, 
  1.9   the commissioner must, to the extent possible, make three meals 
  1.10  available Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, and two 
  1.11  meals available on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. 
  1.12     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2003.
